英國新朋友-搶足風光的荊豆

「在英國認識的新植物」The new plant I know in England

這從在爬山時遇到的荊豆(Common Gorse) 在萬物寂寥的冬季，她仍然奕奕的開著黃色的小花，讓枯寂的山叢變得活潑了起來。

This is Common Gorse, a new plant that I know in England. I found her while I was hiking in Dartmoor. In winter when all the plants seem withered, she fearlessly exhibited her beauty by the yellow flowers on her, bringing back the liveliness from the winter to the mountain.

但她雖然長的美麗，身上的葉子卻很鋒利。仔細靠近觀察她的花型，是豆科植物常見的蝶形花瓣，上網一查才發現她真的是豆科植物呢！

Although she looked really pretty, she actually had sharp leaves on her. I looked closely at her and found the shape of the flower looked likely a pea flower. After checking on the internet, I found she really was a Fabaceae!

在台灣長大的我沒有見過這種植物，但緣起於歐洲的她似乎是很常見的植物，甚至是說到歐洲田野風景就會令人聯想到的角色呢！她的花季一般在一月到六月，從今年開花的時間來看，她真的搶足了先機了！

Since I was grown up in Taiwan, a country in Asia, I've never seemed this plant before. The Common Gorse is actually a common plant in Europe, which make people in Europe think of 'wild landscape' when seeing it. From Jan to Jun is its principle flowering time. This year it really did a great job on grabbing the thunder from other plants!
